1930s Gibson Tg-00 six string conversion

$4,850.00

Here we have a truly special 1930s Gibson TG-00 conversion. Originally built as a tenor guitar, this instrument has been professionally converted into a six-string while preserving the character and feel of the original vintage Gibson.

The conversion features a new Adirondack spruce top with 1/4" scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing, 1/4" tone bars, a matching head brace, appropriate finger braces, and a small maple bridge plate. A new Brazilian rosewood bridge has been crafted for the guitar, along with a correct-style celluloid tortoise pickguard finished in proper lacquer.

One of the highlights of this guitar is the original 1930s Gibson neck, which integrated perfectly into the build. The guitar plays wonderfully up and down the neck. At some point in its life, the neck did receive a heel repair, but it has since been professionally stabilized and is structurally solid.

The body has been completely refinished in aged nitrocellulose lacquer to closely match the original neck, complete with a tasteful small sunburst finish that suits the era beautifully. The frets appear to be original and remain in very good condition, having recently been leveled, recrowned, and dressed for excellent playability.

The neck profile is best described as a soft V shape—comfortable and very vintage-inspired in hand.

As expected for an instrument with this kind of history, the guitar shows plenty of cosmetic wear including nicks, chips, dings, dents, and other superficial blemishes throughout. Please refer closely to the photos for overall condition.

The guitar includes an aftermarket hard case.

Feel free to reach out with any additional questions.
