1934 Martin 00-18 shade top R 18 conversion
Here we have great 1934 Martin R-18 archtop that has been converted to a style 18 The conversion was done by Joel Whitehead. The guitar tuners are not origanal to the guitar but our older Grover tuners. dot inlays are original.
Things to know about the instrument:
New AAA Adirondack spruce top with scalloped 5/16” scalloped bracing
Nut width is 1.756''
Width from e to e at bridge is 2.277''. scale length 24-7/8”
brazilian rosewood belly bridge with bone saddle and Ebony bridge pins
New liquor aged finish to the entire body of the guitar
The neck sides and back and finger board are original
Sides and back are Honduran mahogany with mahogany neck.
Guitar still does obtain its original bar frets that have recently been leveled, crowned, and dressed.
The guitar plays wonderful has a stunning tone to it.
Original bar frets have recently been leveled, crowned, and dressed.
Things original to the guitar include:
Neck sides and back, Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard neck block, tail block, back bracing ,center strip, Martin peg head, back cellulose binding with end graft.
Reason for refinishing entire body was guitar had previous repairs that needed to be addressed such as a lower back patch, and two small side patches to the right side of the lower part of the guitar. These repairs were addressed with backing material, same species of wood as the back mahogany.
the guitar is solid now. Guitar looks to have had a small headstock repair or maybe a head stock scratch I'm not too sure. Doesn't show all the way through but is solid and not going anywhere guitar functions accordingly
There are lots of scrapes, scratches, dings dents and superficial blemishes all over the instrument. As you will notice from the photos that I have provide. The body has been aged to match the neck as you'll notice from the photos that I've provided. The guitar comes with an aftermarket case.
Please feel free to ask any other question you might have.
